ELDERFLOWER

All parts of the Elder, which commonly grows hedges and on waste ground, have long established medicinal uses. It is thought the ursolic acid in Elder accounts for its proven anti-inflammatory action. In vitro studies have also shown activity against several strains of influenze virus and a clinical study in patients demonstrrated it cust short flu symptoms. It appears to work by increasing production of immune system messengers called cytokines and by direct anti-viral action.
