Also known as Quaking Aspen, Poplar Alba and Nigra are European species with Poplar tremuloides originating from North America.

The bark occurs as curved or flattened pieces or may be shredded. The salicyl glycosides are anti-inflammatory, and the flavonoids are thought to contribute to the activity of the extract. Poplar is an ingredient of a preparation also containing Solidago virgaurea and Franxinus excelsior for inflammatory disorder, which has been shown to have clinical efficacy. This product is also analgesic, antipyretic and antioxidant.

Poplar has also been used traditionally to treat urinary complaints, such as cystitis, stomach and liver disorders and debilkity and anorexia.
