VERVAIN

This aromatic herb, more commonly known as verbana grows throughout Europe, particularly in the south.

Vervain contains iridoids, volatile oil triterpenes and flavonoids and has a number of medicinal uses, including as an antidepressant and anticonvulsant activity and for jaundice, coughs, colds, and as a digestive aid. The triterpenes in Vervain are anti-inflammatory and the flavonoids are antimicrobial.  Both of these are thought to contribute to the therapeutic efficacy.

Recently immunomodulatory and antiviral effects have been noted.
